Carolyn J. Kelly, age 89, of Basehor, Kansas, formerly of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021. A Memorial Mass will be 10:00am, Sat. January 15th, 2022, at Holy Angels Catholic Church (in the Smaller A-Framed Church), Basehor, Kansas, followed by burial at the Holy Angels Cemetery.
Carolyn was born on November 4, 1932, in Niobrara, Nebraska. After graduating high school from St. Aloysius Academy in KCMO, she attended Mt. Saint Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas where she earned her degree to become a registered dietician. She then furthered her education at an internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After returning to Kansas City, she taught at St. Mary’s Hospital in KCMO. In 1957, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she fully embraced the Colorado lifestyle. When she was not teaching at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, you could find her skiing, golfing, and fishing in the mountains she loved so much. In 1973, she married Robert C. Kelly, an attorney for the federal government. She continued to work and volunteer in many capacities around the Denver area, but St. Joseph’s Hospital always had a special place in Carolyn’s heart. She received a Volunteer of the Year award from them, and the Denver news stations reported this special moment in Carolyn’s life. Following Bob’s death in 2008, Carolyn moved back to Kansas City and enjoyed living with her sister and niece.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Kelly, and two nephews, Steve, and John Teeple. She is survived by her sister, Barbara J. Teeple, niece Regina Moseley, nephew Dr. Mike Teeple and his wife Angie, and four great-grand nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, Basehor, Kansas.
