Carl was born on March 25, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating High School and completing technical school with a mechanical background he enlisted in the US Army, serving 10 years overseas with the majority of his time stationed in Fort Riley, KS. Carl married Teresa (Locklear) in 1980 and together they made their home in Linwood where they raised their three daughters. After the Military he worked as a Mechanic out of his home for many years. Carl loved the little town of Linwood and was known by everyone, he was often found helping others in the community when they were in need. Being a Mechanic came naturally for Carl; as his knowledge was unmatched and he could fix just about anything that was put in front of him. Carl admired older antique vehicles, hot rods, and anything with horsepower.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill & Marilyn (Tate) Kohlmeyer and his brother Rodney Kohlmeyer.

Survivors include his wife Teresa Kohlmeyer of the home, three daughters: Vanessa Faye Kohlmeyer of Linwood, KS., Holley Anne Kohlmeyer of Nashville, TN., Anne Marie Kohlmeyer of Tonganoxie, KS., two grandchildren Chloe and Tristin, and sister Annette McCauley of Michigan.
