Obituary for Bryan Michael Passler

Bryan Michael Passler, Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on June 30, 2022 at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission from complications of heart failure following several years of declining health. Bryan was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 20, 1976 to Warren J. Passler, Jr. and Annette M. Novich. He graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1995 and DeVry University in 1998 with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems. He was employed by the Bonner Springs School District prior to his illness. He grew up in Bonner Springs and lived in Kansas City, Kansas for the past fifteen years, where he was largely home-bound. He was a non-denominational Christian and Libertarian.

Due to his various physical health issues, his primary social outlet was through online gaming. He was better known to the world at large as the character Maddax in EverQuest and EVE Online, as well as several other online games. During his many years of online gaming, he came into contact with hundreds of fellow gamers who found him to be kind, helpful and even tempered. Of special mention at his request, were his good EVE friends Christopher Berry of Metairie, Louisiana and Tim Goette of Oak Harbor, Washington.

Bryan was preceded in death by his mother; Aunt and Uncle Theresa and Jesse Gonzales; Aunt Kay Schierbaum; Uncle Gary Bennett; Aunt Patricia Novich, all of Kansas City, Kansas; and Cousins John Dean, Sr. and John Dean Jr, of Edwardsville and Bonner Springs, respectively.

He is survived by his father Warren J. Passler Jr. of the home; brother Warren Passler III; nieces Laura and Hope Passler; Aunt Karen Bennett; Uncle Anthony Novich, Jr. and “best friend,” Chris Ross. He is also survived by numerous cousins and acquaintances.

No Services are planned at this time.
