Obituary for Bobbie Nell Gates
Bobbie Nell Gates, age 88, of Bonner Springs, KS., passed away on Oct. 18, 2021 at the Evergreen Community of Johnson County. The family will hold a celebration of her life at a date to be determined.
Bobbie was born on November 10, 1932 in Walnut Grove, Mississippi to George and Eva (Eichelberger) Watkins. She was married for 62 years to Lamont Gates, and was a homemaker for most of that time. She was very involved with her family and loved sewing, cooking and craft projects. She was also very involved in her church and was either in the church kitchen or hosting church related events at her home. After Lamont retired, they traveled the United States seeing most of the National Parks. The two of them even volunteered by hosting with the National Park Service. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lamont T. Gates and granddaughter Emily Odom. Survivors include her 3 children: Keith Gates and his wife Kathy of Greenville, SC., Ann Wiggins and her husband David of Bonner Springs, KS., and Penny Odom and husband Mitch of Picayune, Mississippi. Grandchildren: Lindsey Rambow (Bates), Matthew Gates (Anna Grace), Brian Wiggins (Jenna), Joe Wiggins (Jake), Eva Yourtee (Ryan) and Tiffany Pierce.
Great Grandchildren: Rosie Rambow, Claire Rambow, Ari Gates, Hendrix Wiggins, Aidan Wise,
Emilyn Wise, Ayla Odom, Eli Odom and Axel Pierce.
