Obituary for Bob Garman

Bobbie Gene Garman, age 80, of Kansas City, KS., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 8th, 2020. Visitation will be 10-11am, funeral at 11am, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery.

Bob was born on January 22, 1940 in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was the youngest of three sons born to John & Fay “Williams” Garman. Bob grew up in Mountain Grove where his parents owned the Garman Grocery Store. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in the Class of 1958. After graduation he moved to Kansas City, Kansas where he began working as an Electrician at Gustin-Bacon/CertainTeed Fiberglass Mfg. Bob was then drafted into the US Army, where he served two years as a Helicopter Mechanic. He then returned back to Kansas City, KS. and Gustin-Bacon/CertainTeed where he worked until he retired in 2000. Bob spent his retirement years riding his motorcycle, going to Swap & Shops, having coffee with his friends at Hardee’s, making his “pops-art” out of soda cans and other things he would find, and taking his grandchildren to the Park and Lake.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Don and Curtis Garman and by one daughter Mary Lou “Sis” Roath.
Survivors include his children: Floyd E. “Eddie” Fossett and wife Julie, John S. Garman all of Bonner Springs, KS., Karla M. Preece and husband Tim of Shawnee, KS. He was the beloved Pops/Papa to 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, as well as several extended family in Mountain Grove, MO and Batesville, Ar.
