Obituary for Betty Jean Dunivan

Betty Jean Dunivan, age 91, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7th, 2022 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 1-2pm followed by the Funeral Service at 2pm, both Thursday, Oct. 13th at the Bonner Springs First Christian Church. Private burial will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or the Bonner Springs First Christian Church.

Betty was born on July 25, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas and was one of four children born to Jerry & Maurine (Winchell) Hardsaw. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1950 where she participated in the synchronized swimming team. Betty married Denny F. Dunivan on December 27, 1953 and together they made their home in Kansas City, KS, St. Joseph, MO., Raytown, MO., Fort Lauderdale, FL., and Bonner Springs. She was a member of the Bonner Springs First Christian Church. Her faith and her church family were always very important to her. Throughout her life, Betty loved nature, gardening,drawing/painting, and animals, but especially horses.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Hardsaw, half-brother Ted Hardsaw and sister Carolyn Lero. Survivors include her three children Carmen Tracy and husband Gary of Leawood, KS., Richard Dunivan and wife Joyce of Kansas City, KS., and Patrick Dunivan of Englewood, FL. Sister Sherie Kay Sheets and husband Mike of Tulare, CA., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
