Obituary for Bernie Tenhagen

Bernard “Bernie” Tenhagen, age 67, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 18th 2021 after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be 5-7pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 7pm, both Tuesday, June 22nd at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Bernie was born on March 4th, 1954 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, so the family moved several times during his childhood, living in such places as Turkey, Germany, France, Australia and many other places. In the 1970’s Bernie returned to Kansas City, KS where his family was originally from. Bernie married Martha (Folk) in 1978 and together they made their home in Kansas City, KS. He worked for many years at Owens Corning Fiberglass in Kansas City, KS and had recently worked at Lowes in Anchorage, AK. Bernie was always up for an adventure, loved to tell stories, play music and was always the “life of the party”.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents Lt Col Carl Bernard & Ella Mae (Horner) Tenhagen and his brother Robert Tenhagen.
Survivors include his wife Martha Tenhagen of the home, four children; Sarah Saindon and husband Steve of Kansas City, KS., Emily Tenhagen and Robert Moss of Kansas City, KS., Robert Tenhagen of Chugiak, AK., and Brian Tenhagen of Kansas City, KS. Six grandchildren; Michael, Mercedes, Hailie, R.J., Alysia and Aidan. One sister; Carol DeFrees and husband Dale of Alaska.
