Maurice Duane Dickinson

Maurice Duane “Mo” Dickinson, age 56, of Basehor, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 4th 2022. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday, Feb. 8th at the Risen Savior Lutheran Church (14700 Leavenworth Rd. Basehor, KS. 66007). Funeral Service will be 11am Wednesday, Feb 9th, also at the Church. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Memorial contributions can be made to the Risen Savior Lutheran Church.

Maurice was born on June 9th, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas and was one of six children born to Will & Betty (Parry) Dickinson. He grew up in Wichita and Geneseo, KS and graduated from Ellsworth High School in the Class of 1983. Maurice then proudly served in the US Navy on nuclear powered attack submarines, most notably the USS Indianapolis. After being discharged in 1992, Maurice then worked at the Kansas State Penitentiary in Lansing, KS until 1999 when he took a job at the Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth, where he worked until his retirement in 2019. Maurice married Collene Pantle on December 2nd, 1995 and together they made their home in Basehor, KS where they raised their two daughters. He and Collene were active members of the Risen Savior Lutheran Church. Maurice enjoyed playing games online, target shooting, fishing and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law David Halstrom, sister-in-law Marty Dickinson, brother Will Dickinson, Jr. and most recently by his wife Collene Joyce Dickinson in 2021.

Survivors include his two daughters: Jennifer Stuart and husband John of Edwardsville, KS., Caroline Porth and husband David of Pleasant Hill, MO., two grandchildren Joseph and Emily. Siblings: Sister Cheryl Brown and husband Jerry of Hoisington, KS., sister–in-law Connie Dickinson of Ellsworth, KS., brother George Dickinson and wife Connie of Marquette, KS., brother Mike Dickinson of Oklahoma City, OK., sister Betty Jo Hartman and husband Stanley of Uniontown, KS., as well as several extended family and friends.
