Obituary for Dale Wayne Packard

Dale “Papa Trunk” Packard, age 69, a longtime resident of Bonner Springs, KS. passed away Monday Nov. 14th, 2016 at his home. Visitation 5 to 7pm Thurs. Nov. 17, Funeral 11am, Friday Nov. 18, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery.

Dale was born on Nov. 30, 1946 in Rural Jackson County, MO. and was second of six children born to Leroy and Helen (Oelschlaeger) Packard. He grew up and attended school in Bonner Springs. Dale retired in 1998 after a 30 year career at Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, MO. In his retirement he helped his mother at her restaurant, “Redwood Drive Inn” in Bonner Springs. Dale enjoyed working outside, helping others and did a lot of carpentry work. He was very loyal and loving to his family. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Chuck Packard and one step-daughter Shelly Zaffaro. Survivors include his wife Brenda Packard of the home, three children; John Packard of Basehor, KS., daughter Robin Packard of Lake Waukomis, MO., and son Cory Packard of Bonner Springs, four grandchildren; Jackson, Zoie, Jeremy and Jessie, one brother Jim Packard of Tonganoxie, KS., three sisters; Elaine Bundy of Basehor, KS., Marilyn Murray of Bonner Springs, Norma Courtney (Paul) of Tonganoxie, KS., brother-in-law Rick (Kim) Everley of McLouth, KS., Mother and Father-in-law; Tom and Margie Everley of Bonner Springs, twelve nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
