JOSEPH P. ODLE
Joseph Preston Odle, 79, of Basehor, KS passed away Tue., April 14, 2015 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam, KS. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am, Fri., April 17, at the First Baptist Church of Basehor with burial to follow in the Glenwood Cemetery also in Basehor, KS. Friends may call at the visitation from 9 to 11 am, Fri. morning, April 17, at the church prior to the service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
Mr. Odle was born on Jan. 2, 1936 in Kansas City, KS and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for over 30 years for the Kansas City Kansas Fire Department retiring as Captain and Union President in 1984. He later served as Mayor of Basehor and as a Basehor City Councilman and was appointed as the Kansas State Fire Marshall. He was a longtime member of the Basehor V.F.W. and the First Baptist Church of Basehor.
Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years Sabra Odle of the home. Four children Bob Odle (Debbie) of Basehor, KS; Mike Odle (Carmen) of Piper, KS; Dawn Edmonds (Russell) of Bonner Springs, KS and Sean Odle (Angela) of Tonganoxie, KS. Six grandchildren Ashley, Taylor (Adam), Klynn, Madisyn, Jason and Jessica (Mark). Two great grandchildren Xavier and Zane.
