Obituary for Pauline Umbenhower
Pauline Umbenhower “Grandma Pauline”, age 93, of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on July 3, 2019. Visitation will be 10-11am, followed by the Memorial Service at 11am, both Tuesday, July 9th, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House.
Pauline was born on September 28, 1925 at her family’s home in Wilder, Kansas. She was one of seven children born to Jose & Juana (Salas) Gomez. Pauline grew up in Wilder and attended school in Bonner Springs, Graduating from Bonner Springs High School with the class of 1944. She raised her family in Wilder and lived a simple life, devoted to her family and church. She was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, one son Gerald Umbenhower, one daughter Sandra Waite, two brothers; Augustine “Augie” Gomez, Perfetto “Pete” Gomez, and one sister Theresa Blancarte. Survivors include three children; David Umbenhower of Linwood, KS., Sally Clark of Bonner Springs, KS., Shirley Jenkins of Kelso, Washington, three siblings; Bessie Garr of National City, CA., Betty Moore of Shawnee, KS., Joe (Sheila) Gomez of Shawnee, KS., 13 grandchildren, 38 Great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
