Obituary for Robert L. "Bobby" Rabenau Jr.
Robert “Rob” “Bobby” L. Rabenau, age 47, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away suddenly on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019 while Pheasant Hunting in Western Kansas. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, Nov. 23, visitation from 1-3 with the services following at 3pm, both at the IAFF Local 2195 Union Hall, 322 SE Douglas, Lee's Summit, Missouri 64063.
In lieu of flowers the family strongly suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Bobby was born on February 12, 1972, in Aurora, Colorado. He attended Millington Central High School in Tennessee, graduating from Shawnee Mission West High School in Shawnee, Kansas. Bobby was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of Hospital Corpsman, HM. He studied Pre-Hospital Emergency Care at the University of Iowa. He was a former EHS Advisor, Vessel Security Officer, and paramedic at Cal Dive International and on a deep water salvage Vessel/Derrick Barge in Houston, Texas. Bobby was a former Security/Medic at Argosy Casino in Kansas City, MO., former Firefighter Captain/Paramedic at Kellogg Brown & Root in Baghdad, Iraq, former paramedic at West Cal-Cam Hospital in Sulphur, Louisiana, former paramedic at Acadian Ambulance Service in Lake Charles, Louisiana , former site Paramedic at International SOS, and presently was working as a Paramedic / Fire Marshall with the KCMO Fire Dept. where he had just received his Arson Investigator Certification. Bobby was very involved with fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, was an avid outdoorsman and loved to travel.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother Sandy Schillings and his father Bob Rabenau, Sr.
Survivors include his step-mother Marie Rabenau of Kansas City, Kansas, his daughter Katherine and one granddaughter of San Diego, California, two siblings; Kasey Grim of Lincoln, Nebraska and Tim Rabenau of Norfolk, Nebraska, and five step-siblings, Daniel Ganaden (Rebecca) of Grain Valley, Missouri, Dana Fetch (Willy) of Rapid City, South Dakota, Shelley Gifford (Zane) of Houston, Texas, Stacey Martin of Lansing, Kansas, Adam Wynkoop of Kansas City, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bobby was an exceptional individual to all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.
