Obituary for Else Eie Mortensen

Else Eie  Mortensen
ELSE E. MORTENSEN
Else Eie Mortensen, age 91, passed away quietly in her sleep on February 12, 2018 at Olathe Health Hospice Care surrounded by her loving family. Else lived in the family home in Bonner Springs, Kansas until August, 2017.
Else was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on March 14, 1926 to Harald and Elna (Marsboell) Eie. She was the second of four children. Brother Otto, the oldest, and Grete have preceded her in death. Her youngest sister Birte lives with husband Teddy in the Eie family home on Firkloevervej in Copenhagen.
Else attended Bispebjerg Skole and Noerre G junior college in Copenhagen, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in modern languages. She also attended University of Copenhagen studying English language and literature.
Else married Tage Alfred Mortensen on December 17, 1945 and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary before his passing in 2011. Else was a loving and supportive mother and with Tage raised their three boys, Niels, Carsten, and Kenneth.
Else is survived by Niels Mortensen (Sallie) of Overland Park, Kansas; Carsten Mortensen (Julie) of Bonner Springs; Ken Mortensen (Mary Rachel) of Bonner Springs, and eight grandchildren: Rebecca Adams (Stephen) of Manhattan, Kansas; Elizabeth Mortensen of Oak Point, Texas; Erik Mortensen of New York City; Christina Mortensen of Shawnee, Kansas; Andrea Mortensen of Bonner Springs; Riley Mortensen of Mission, Kansas; Randa Mortensen of Bonner Springs; and Jarod Mortensen of Pittsburg, Kansas.
There will be Memorial Service at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church at 10 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2018 for family and close friends, followed by a Celebration of Life and Visitation at the Church Fellowship Hall at 11 AM the same day.
The family wishes to thank Else’s many friends for their love and support, and numerous doctors, nurses, and staff at the Gables of Overland Park, Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Brookdale Rosehill, Greenwood Terrace, and Olathe Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vaughn-Trent Community Services of Bonner Springs or the Feed his Lambs program, based at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church.
