Life Story for Ed L. Howerton

Ed L.  Howerton
Edward Lee Howerton, age 80, a longtime resident of Edwardsville, Kansas passed away on Saturday, Sept. 17th, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21st at the Edwardsville Christian Church with burial to follow in the Edwardsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 10-11am prior to the service also at the church.
Ed was born on Sept. 8, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri the fourth of five children born to John & Flora (Hevner) Howerton. Ed grew up in Kansas City, KS and entered the U.S. Army at the age of 17. Upon returning from the service, he was attending the Edwardsville Christian Church with his brother, where he met Ola Anderson, they were married in June of 1958 at the church. Ed had worked at International Paper for 25 years, until their closing and then went to work at USD #500 as a Custodian, where he worked for 17 years, retiring as Head Custodian. He was a longtime and active member of the Edwardsville Christian Church. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Geneva Howerton and Lucille Sears. Survivors include his wife Ola Howerton and their children Jeffrey and Michelle, of the home. One brother Walter Howerton of Clinton, MO., Sister Lois Cook of Hot Springs, AR., numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
