Connie  Harrington (Long)
Connie Harrington, age 78, a longtime resident of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, August 17th, 2016 at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy illness. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22nd at the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21st, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Bonner Animal Rescue or the Bonner Springs Lions Club Sight Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
Connie was born on July 25, 1938 in Ottawa, Kansas and was the older of two daughters born to D.H. "Mike" and Winifred “Freddy” (Boettcher) Long. Connie spent most of her childhood in Marion, KS where she built lifelong friendships. Her family relocated after 1951 Flood and settled in Bonner Springs where she graduated with the class of 1956. She married her high school sweetheart, John Harrington in 1959 and they made their home in Bonner Springs. Over the years she was active with her parent’s cafe, showing Old English Sheepdogs, Garden Club, painting, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, PTA, DBI, Bonner Springs Historical Society as well as other civic and community organizations. She had worked outside the home for several years at Veterinary Medicine Publishing Co. as a bookkeeper. Since 1987 she and her daughter have owned and operated Harrington Floral. She and her husband John own the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Connie had a lifetime love of enjoying family and friends at Lake of the Ozarks. Above all she enjoyed time spent with her family and her pets at her home.
Survivors include her husband John Harrington of the home. Three children; Jeff Harrington and his wife Marcia of Bonner Springs, Andrea “Dee Dee” Harrington-Summers and her husband Scott of Bonner Springs and Brad Harrington and his wife Carrie of Basehor. One sister; Sandy Molder and her husband Donnie of Claremore, OK. And six grandchildren that she loved greatly Jarred, Cameron, Connor, Stella, Lake and Sadie Jo.
