Obituary for Edith Mae Border

Edith M. Border, 74, of Edwardsville, KS passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at her home. A celebration of life service will be from 6 to 9 pm, Sat. July 30 at the South Park Community Center 246 Shadyside in Bonner Springs, KS. "Edie" was born on July 6th, 1942 at home in Riley County, KS. She married Steven Border on December 11, 1959. They had 4 sons and 5 grandsons. She was a mother and homemaker until 1988 when she began working at Interconnect Devices Inc. (IDI). She enjoyed her work and her many friends she made over her 28 years working there. She retired from IDI at age 72. Edie was a compassionate, caring and generous lady. She loved to cook, welcomed anyone into her home to eat, socialize and play games. She always ensured that no one left her house hungry or without a grateful smile on their face. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and have a good time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Gertrude and Lyman Martin, brothers Lyman Martin and Larry Martin; and sisters Boneta Graves and Teresa Stahli. And she is survived by her husband of 56 years Steven Border; three brothers Paul "Buster" Martin, Lee Martin and Bob Martin. One sister Anna Powell. Four sons William Border, Steven Border, Michael Border and Kevin Border. Five Grandsons Justin Border, Shawn Border, Aaron Border, Nicholas Border and Daniel Border. Her best friend Leona Benedick as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends that will miss her greatly.
