Donald T.  Delich
Donald T. Delich, 82, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Sunday, July 24th, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Mass Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28th at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas with the burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 10 to 11 prior to the service, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kansas City Hospice or the University of Kansas Cancer Center.

Donald was born on July 30th, 1933 in Kansas City, KS; the sixth of eleven children born to John and Lorine (Pummel) Delich. He grew up in the Bethel area of Kansas City, KS, and graduated from Washington High School in 1951. He was involved in many sports and committees, most notably head of Senior Skip Day Committee; he was also crowned Washington High School’s Hatchet King of 1951. He then graduated from Kansas City Junior College, where he lettered in Football, and continued his education at Rockhurst University. Donald married Juanita Ross on June 4, 1955 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and shortly thereafter he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Upon returning from the service he began a career in sales at Armor Meat Packing Company and Carpenter Paper Company. He then went on to work at William Volker Company before starting a 26 year career as an Iron Worker with Ironworkers Local #10. Lastly, he worked security for Argosy Casino.

Donald was a passionate family man who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved Christmastime and spending many hours shopping with his family. Donald loved sports and was an avid fan of the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, and Kansas Jayhawks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, in 1965, his parents and his siblings; John Delich, Josephine Draskovich, Louise Seldomridge, Rosemary “Babe” McStay and Jerome Delich.
Survivors include his two children; Mark Delich and his wife Trish of Lansing, KS and Michelle Reynolds of Overland Park, KS. Five siblings; Bernice Mueller, Fred Delich, Bernard Delich, Joann Francis and Gloria Anderson. Five Grandchildren; Dustin(Ali) Delich, Nicole Delich, Ashley Anderson, Dylan(Darian) Delich and Daniel Schieszer. Three Great-Grandchildren Grady, Jaila and Ava. As well as many Nieces , Nephews, extended family and friends.

We will forever remember his smile, strength, sincerity, demeanor, happiness, grace, and most importantly, the love he had for his family.
