MARY ANN ALLEN
Mary Ann Allen, 86, passed away Tues., June 21, 2016 at the Golden Living Kaw River Nursing Home in Edwardsville, Kansas. A Memorial Celebration and gathering of friends and family will be on Thurs., June 30, from 6-8 pm at Alden Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home. Mary Ann was born August 16, 1929 and graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1947. She attended Kansas City Kansas Junior College until she married Gene Allen in April of 1949. Mary Ann worked as a secretary for the Bonner Springs School District for many years then went to work for the City of Bonner and retired in 1991. She served a term on the City Council of Bonner and was very active in the Senior’s Center in Bonner. She and Gene loved to dance and enjoyed many trips in their RV and camping with friends. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Gene Allen in 2013 and is survived by her two children Teresa Ellis and Dale Allen. One sister Helen Stransky, 4 grandchildren, Katy Crookham, Jeny Kooser, Kirt Allen, and Shilo Allen; and 8 great grandchildren.
