James Elvin Groom, 83, of Bonner Springs, KS Passed away on Sat., Aug. 22, 2015 at his home. Memorial services will be 4 pm, Sun., Aug. 30, at the Victory Assembly of God, 121 Allcutt in Bonner Springs, KS. Friends may call at the visitation from 3 to 4 pm, Sun., Aug. 30, at the church. Mr. Groom was born on Aug. 1, 1932 in Gower, MO and has been a longtime area resident. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a lifetime member of the DeSoto V.F.W. He worked as an Over-the-road Truck Driver for many years. He was an avid fisherman and a very faithful member of the Victory Assembly of God in Bonner Springs. Most of all he loved his family which meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one daughter Jackie Clark in 2009, Two grandchildren Shonda Kieffaber in 1974 and Donnie DeHaven. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Norma Groom of the home. Three Daughters Carol Kieffaber of Shawnee, KS; Pamela Bryant (Clifford) of Raplje, MT; Rhonda DeHaven of Sedalia, MO. One brother and eleven sisters. Eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
