Obituary for Brett Aaron Doolittle

Brett Aaron  Doolittle
Brett Aaron Doolittle, age 34 of Kansas City, Kansas and previously of Lansing, Kansas passed away on April 22, 2015. Funeral Services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 at the Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd. Terr. Kansas City, KS. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. prior to the service also at the church. Donations can be made in his name to Boy Scouts Heart of America Council Kaw District in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral home.

Brett Aaron Doolittle was born on April 25, 1980 in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up there and in Lansing, Kansas. He was active in the local scouting program and was promoted to Eagle Scout where he received membership in the Order of the Arrow, Tribe of Mic-Osay. As an adult, he continued serving the scouting program as a commissioner of the Heart of America Council Kaw District. On July 25, 2008, he married his high school sweetheart, Lindsey Southard. He was the love of her life. His service to his community continued as an officer in the Kansas City Kansas Police Department, where his work and dedication earned him a promotion to sergeant. He served in that capacity for 15 years. Brett was honored and respected by his peers, superiors, and subordinates. Brett’s interests included creative artwork. He was a member of the National Art Honor Society. His real passion, though, was gardening. He could take an ordinary yard and turn it into a beautiful and inspirational place. All plants bloomed under his touch. Brett is survived by his wife, Lindsey Doolittle of the home; his mother and father, Phyllis and Don McGhee, of Russelville, MO.; grandmother, Maxine Lukinac; uncles Troy, Gary, and Kevin Doolittle; and aunt Wendy Alvis; In-laws Chris and Carolyn Southard of Lansing, KS.; sister-in-laws Amy (Bryan) Ault of Wamego, KS., and Christine (Valente) Silva of The Colony, Texas; and his close friend John Boling (Jessica)of Kansas City, KS. He was an uncle to David, Tony, Gavin, Elizabeth, and Jason Doolittle; Mercedes, Eliana, Alejandro Silva; and Luke and Samantha Ault; Virginia, Alice and Lucy Boling.
