Melvin Delbert Zimmerli, age 90 of Rural Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Nov. 21, 2014. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Linwood First Baptist Church ( 205 W. 3rd St. Linwood, KS) with burial to follow in the Leavenworth National V.A. Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service also at the church.

Melvin was born on April 19, 1924 in Linwood, Kansas. He was a construction worker and welder. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the Lawrence VFW Post #852 . Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include his wife of 67 years; Goldie Zimmerli of the home, daughter Peggy Jo Jones, three grandchildren Brandon, Kimberlee and Brandee, three great-grandchildren Tearynn, Ashkyia, Isaiah. Sister-in-laws; Ruth Zimmerli, Doris Rees, Dorene Evans, Bobbi Blackburn, brother-in-laws Bud Evans, Joe Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.
