Thelma Pearl "Bunny"  Coon
Thelma “Bunny” Coon, age 85 lifelong resident of Bonner Springs, Kansas passed away on Tuesday April 8, 2014 at Providence Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 12, 2014 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bonner Springs Baptist Church or the Bonner Animal Rescue; both in care of the funeral home.
Thelma was born at home on September 12, 1928, the youngest of six children born to John and Hattie (Radcliff) DeMaranville. She was a young teen when she became a member of the Church in the Country that later became known as the Bonner Springs Baptist Church; of which she is still a member. As a teenager she worked at the Tin Shack and Ben Franklin. Thelma married Hobart Coon on June 12, 1946 and he preceded her in death. Thelma had also worked at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, Russell Stover’s Candy, Millers Pharmacy and Tucker Hardware in Kansas City, Kansas. In her retirement years she enjoyed babysitting for many children but her favorite pastime was spending time with friends and family. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Clarence and John DeMaranville, one sister Grace Houdeshelt and grandson Johnny Dean, Jr.. Survivors include her two daughters Darla Hicks and Susan Dean of Bonner Springs, KS., two sisters Myrtle Gallop of Shawnee, KS and Francis Theno of Bonner Springs, KS. 3 grandchildren Jamie Seibold, Jeremy Hicks and Zachary Dean; 3 great grandchildren Kaila & Isaac Seibold and Avery Hicks.
